At the age of two, Queen Rambhai Barni of the Seventh Reign, when holding the title of Princess, was presented by her father to Queen Saovabha Phongsri who, at that time, was residing at Suan Si Ruedu Residential Hall. H.S.H.Princess Rambhai Barni also started her education here.

The Princess Mother of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej

(Rama IX) also lived here when at the age of 7 she was brought into the palace to be under the supervision of H.R.H. Princess Valaya Alongkorn.

After King Chulalongkorn’s death, Queen Saovabha Phongsri moved back to the Grand Palace. King Vajiravudh ordered this residential hall to be taken down and reconstructed on the grounds of Sukhothai Palace the residence of his brother who become King Rama VII.

Later on, the hall was removed to Wat Rachathiwas Ratchaworawihan, and was changed into a brick building but leaving some sign of its original design at the windows and doors.
