Ancient Clock Museum(return to previous page)

These antique clocks can be divided as follows ;

-Grandfather Clock: King Rama V had these specially made in England and Germany.

-Wall Clock: various shapes and forms of clocks such as models of clocks from England, the fiddle clocks from Germany and other wall clocks from the U.S. and Japan. Interestingly, the fiddle clocks use fiddle string instead of ordinary wire to hang the pendulum.

-Table Clock: several types are displayed, all of which were specially ordered. There is a German clock which can tell the time for 400 days when fully wound and an oil lamp clock which is special in that it uses arrows instead of hands to tell the time. The dial for this clock is, made of porcelain from China.

Furthermore, the museum also has a large ceramic plate, signed by King Rama V commemorating his visit to the Cantaculli Factory, Venice, Italy, in 1897. On the second floor of the museum are articles belonging to King Rama V and IX that were bought or presented during state visits abroad.
